One day some woman's gonna find me out....

"now this is not to say, there never comes a day, i'll take my chances and start again,
and when I look behind, at all my younger times,
i'll have to thank the wrongs that led me to a love so strong."

So i've been thinking. I'm full of crap. I have flaws out the sleeves. There are so many things I have kept from women I like just so they could have liked me more. I have gone through many relationships just to be who I thought they wanted me to be at the time. Keeping little lies inside, just to realize that I am doing the most harm possible. It's far more harmful to be someone you're significant other has no idea you are than it is to admit that you're flawed. One day God is gonna put a woman in my life who not only has the nerve to whip me into shape, but also knows my faults and weaknesses and wouldn't have me without them. This is not saying I haven't met her already, it's only saying that i'll enjoy knowing when it's her.

A huge thanks goes out to everyone who came out to hang with us at the FIU show! We had a blast with all of our friends. The great news is that our EP will be coming out within the next 2 weeks, and then...the world! ok, maybe not the world, but at the very least iTunes. We have worked very hard to try our best and connect with everyone of our listeners, so from the bottom of our hearts, we hope that when you hear it it impacts all of you to believe against all odds that you can be who you were created to be. So thanks again for all of your support, and don't forget to visit coiamusic.com and join the newsletter.

Something's Got Me Feeling Brand New

I had the pleasure of playing some music with some friend's in The Jacob Jeffries Band the other day in Miami Beach. Some time's you just gotta stop talking about what you want and just enjoy playing music, Jacob reminds me of this detail.

a smoke...

Today I went to visit my mom in the hospital, and as I was walking back to my car my iPhone buried head caught the attention of a woman crying and struggling to get open the tightly packaged box of cigarettes. She pried at it with all her might as if her only hope of salvation lied in that box.
The first thought that went through my hurting heart was, what could be happening in her life at this moment that could be driving her insanely pain staken. What tragedy has unfolded around her to cause her to feel the way she does, and even more, WHAT IS SHE FEELING? Is she heartbroken, lonely, stressed, paranoid, fearful? What's going on??? Just then, maybe the most important thought of all came into my head. Why is her only hope of comfort coming from a smoke, or better yet, an instant gratification? I was remiss to think that when the chips were down in her life, when times were tough, when the going got hard, or as we say in the music business (hahahaha I love that I just said that) when it hit the fan, she went to a source of instant gratification for comfort. Not a family member, a friend, a loved one, a human being none the less, NO, a carefully wrapped, compact, mobile piece of poison.
I wonder how many times I do this exact same thing....

BTW!!! I am now the proud owner of a new 3G 8GB iPhone! shout out to @teenafina, (soon to be @teenevelasquez lol) for the gift. Gracias!

Mi Amor and Myself

This weekend I was fortunate enough to experience the early birthday celebration with my baby cakes Ms. Rebecca Zeinz as she took me on my first Geo Caching event. (if you don't know what Geo Caching is then get on it) We spent the day traveling through back woods and pasteurs of horse poop, it was amazing. I won't boar you with the details of the rest of the days event, just know it involved steak, mike & ike's, mud cake, and a new t-shirt.
A big gracias goes out to her for giving me such an amazing early b-day!

It's Gonna Be Huge!!!

Easter 2009 Service Times

The Bed

There I was staring at my room wondering why and how it could still be so messy after I had thrown all of my clothes and accessories into the closet. Then it hit me, The Bed! Why is it that the bed has always been the deciding factor in how your bedroom looks. Sometimes you can even JUST make your bed and make no attempt at cleaning no other part of the room. Because all that matters really in the end is the bed. It can set the tone for everything: what kind of person you are, What kind of mood you're in, What kind of mood you wanna be in.... It makes me wonder what in my life is classified as "The Bed". What I mean by that is: what in my life is very important to make sure has been given lots of attention and care but is just regarded as made up to look nice. How many times do we make Christ look good in our life in a hurry knowing that someone is coming to check out you and your life. Even if i'm dying inside, I can just dress us christ, put on some new sheets, throw some clothes in the closet and everything is good as new. When have we taken the time to really put our clothes away, dust our furniture and vacuum the carpet. How many times is our room really genuinely clean. The answer would have to be always! Our rooms are always clean, no matter how far gone we think they are, and I aint talkin' 'bout some mom who never stops cleanin'.

But I will say that I am very grateful for every time my room has been cleaned for me when I knew I didn't have the means let alone the strength to clean it on my own.

Worship 101

Lately I've been on the verge of writing a worship song. this is a huge step for me in that, well, what the heck do I know about writing worship music. I pose a better question, what the heck do I know about describing god's love. Is that even what I'm supposed to do, should I speak on my troubles, my successes, my insecurities, or there lack off. What Do I SAY! It's now that I hit this epiphany in my thinking. "and I've done all I can to stand on your steps with my heart in my hand, but I'm starting to see, baby it's got nothing to do with me". Very insightful words from a Mr. John Mayer. I am quickly realizing that God's love has nothing to do with me and how I feel. The only thing that matters in regards to myself is if I choose to not live in ignorance and embrace grace at it's finest. Ironicly enough, this makes writing worship music even more complex than I anticipated.

What are we afraid of?

Last week a good friend of mine, Brian from NBPhotograpix.com, came in and was taking pictures for his new project he was working on. His idea was to take high definition face shots of people. The shots would show every detail of the face that we don't see very often. In fact, he is showing the opposite of what we are used to seeing in pictures.
It's remarkable how we spend so much of our time covering up what we really look like. Layer after layer, wall after wall, we hide who Christ made us to be. Insecurity after Insecurity. What would happen if no one was afraid to be who they are. If they were okay with being...them. Here's a question, what are we so afraid of?
